LG G3- The world's first Quad HD Smartphone

After months of rumors and speculations, LG has finally launched its highly anticipated flagship- the LG G3. A super stylish device with its stunning QHD display and a unique button placement. Let's find out whether this one is for you. Read on.

LG G3 Performance
The g3 has got a lot of neat features and tricks up its sleeve, the most standing out feature being the massive 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440) IPS LCD screen with a pixel density of 538ppi. Powering this monster screen is a Quad Core Snapdragon 801 soc clocked at 2.5 Ghz with 2 or 3 Gb RAM depending on the variant. For graphics, it packs an Adreno 330 gpu.

LG G3 Release date and Price
LG has announced June as the LG G3 release date in the UK Europe, although we're still waiting to hear the dates for other markets. As for the price, it is a similar story, LG hasn't released any pricing details but it is well speculated that the price would be around the 45k INR(700-800 USD) mark.

LG G3 Design
LG retains the its traditional back-button layout with the g3, just like the g2. While for some they are a bit awkward to operate, others find them quite easy to use. With the g3, the buttons are given a more flatter and rounded look. Another design aspect that the g3 retains is the plastic backing. While the removable back cover is still plastic, the metallic feeling kind of texture that LG has put on does give it an effect. But that's all, it still feels like plastic.

With dimensions of 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9mm it's certainly on the large size, but that's to be expected given the large 5.5-inch screen. But despite the large size, the thin bezzels, the curved back and a weight of 143g does not make this beast difficult while using with a single hand.

The LG G3 will be available in white, black and gold.
Button wise there's just the power button and volume keys on the back, the sides and front don't have any buttons at all. All you really get on the front is that 5.5-inch screen, with bezels above and below it and an earpiece at the top.The 1 watt speaker is on the back, while the headphone port and micro USB port are on the bottom edge. The G3 will be available in white, black and gold.

LG G3 Operating System
A cleaner, refined and rounded UI

The G3 at its launch will ship with the latest version of Android that is Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, one of the least memory intensive iteration of Android. It will be overlaid by LG's new and refined Optimus UI. The new Optimus UI's look has been changed to give it a flatter, circular, and less childish-like appearance. There's also a new feature called "Smart Notice".

This provides context sensitive information, suggestions and reminders based on where you are, the status of your phone and your behaviour. So for example when you get to work in the morning it might ask if you want to turn Wi-Fi on, or if you haven't used an app for a few months it might ask if you want to delete it.

Another popular feature of LG phones, the Knock Code, is bundled in with the G3. Using this, you can wake up your screen by a predefined series of taps when the screen is off.

Laser, Camera lens, and dual led flash of G3
LG G3 Camera
The LG G3 has a 13MP rear facing shooter with a unique laser autofocus, a dual-LED flash and OIS+. The laser autofocus should help it to focus much faster than is competition. The front facing camera is a 2.1MP
offering.

LG G3 Battery
The G3 has a removable 3000mAh battery which is roughly in line with rival phones. The Samsung Galaxy S5 for example has a 2800mAh battery, while the Sony Xperia Z2 has a 3200mAh one. Of course neither of those phones have QHD screens, so it remains to be seen how well the battery will hold up, but at least you can carry a spare with you if need be.

LG G3 connectivity
The LG G3 supports 3G, 4G (probably the 1800MHz band in India), Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. It also has a microSD card slot (with support for cards of up to 128GB) to bulk up the storage from the 16 or 32GB that you can get with it and if you put it in a QuickCircle Case it will support Qi wireless charging too.

LG G3 QuickCircle Case
LG seems to have followed the trend of adding functionality by a case. The QuickCircle case gives the G3 a wireless charging ability as well as a good set of glance-able information. When the cover is on, a circular cut-out across the top portion of the screen turns into a helpful circular widgets panel. You can control everything from music to calls without ever having to open the case. The QuickCircle Case is sold separately and comes in black, white, gold, mint and pink.
